Guided by her core principle, Christiane is actively involved as a board member and co-founder of the association “Chancen für Kinder” e.V., advocating for the cultural participation of children, particularly through reading projects. Why? Often, a child’s future path is determined in the early years. Some can already write and play the piano by the time they start school, while others struggle to hold a pencil or sit still. Education and opportunities are unevenly distributed.
In no other industrialized country is a child’s educational success as closely tied to their background as it is in Germany. The right of children to equal educational opportunities is not being upheld in the German education system.
The association “Chancen für Kinder” e.V. is dedicated to ensuring equal opportunities for all children. This means that every child, regardless of their background, gender, cultural and ethnic affiliation, or the social status of their family, has the best possible development opportunities and can realize their potential. Equal starting conditions create equal chances – whether in terms of educational success, future professional and societal participation, or the successful integration of children with a migration background.
Christiane’s responsibilities include organizing the reading program and other cultural offerings, fundraising, recruiting volunteers, public relations, and social media for the association. Of course, she also personally reads aloud to children in primary schools and kindergartens.
